VISIT FLORIDA STATE AND NATIONAL PARKS – BY E-BIKE!

One of the most wonderful aspects of the state of Florida is that outdoor activities are possible 12 months out of the year. In our opinion, there is no better way to get to know “the sunshine state” than to visit its state and national park system and use your Pedego e-bike or Segway device to conveniently traverse park trails, during your visit!

The first four-time winner of the Gold Medal honoring the nation’s best state park systems, the Florida Park Service is one of the largest in the U.S.A. It encompasses 175 state parks, trails, and historic sites, spanning nearly 800,000 acres and including 100 miles of sandy white beach.

There is a nominal admission to nearly all Florida’s state parks, although separate fees are charged for the use of cabins, marinas, and campsites. Florida’s state parks accommodate large and small parties of all kinds, with 3,613 family campsites, 186 cabins, thousands of picnic tables, 100 miles (160 km) of beaches, and over 2,600 miles of “bikeable” trails.

Florida is also home to 11 U.S. National Parks, supported by Federal tax dollars, and featuring additional expanses of land, trails, exhibits, and fun! It is exciting that this natural resource wealth is there for exploration at any time, since the state and national parks are open year-round.

Their diverse activities extend beyond fishing, hiking, and camping. Many offer facilities for birdwatching or horseback riding. There are several historic battle re-enactment sites, and freshwater springs and beaches are Florida’s gems. According to the Florida Park Service website, the state park system’s goal “is to help create a sense of place by showing visitors the best of Florida’s diverse natural and cultural sites.”

Biking is a very convenient way to traverse the trails at each of these state and national parks. Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are welcomed at most of the parks, all of which contain trails for e-bike use. For a full list of the various Florida state parks, as well as descriptions and more details about biking trails at each, this Wikipedia site is highly informative. Each local government may enforce some regulations, but most of the state park authorities allow you to ride an electric bike.

But to use an e-bike or scooter at the park to see even more, travel longer distances, and thoroughly enjoy the trails, you need to own your own e-bike or a scooter. For your e-bike purchase, or even rental, please visit us online or at our Florida stores.
